Visualise to make it real.
We often underestimate the power of having a career vision.
Not just a goal or a plan, but a clear picture that gives meaning to what we do and helps us make choices that actually move us in the right direction for us.
When I work with clients on their career vision, something great happens. They fire up. Their body language changes. You can almost see how their brain starts connecting dots, how new possibilities begin to take shape.
A strong vision works as a filter. Every time you face an important decision, you can ask yourself:
👉 “Will this bring me closer to my vision, or further away?”
Over the years, I’ve learned that visions come in many forms. Some people prefer to write a story about their future self. Others build a visual board full of images and colours. Some turn it into a manifesto. What matters is that it feels alive and connected to who you are.
I’ve also learned to approach my vision with flexibility and balance:
✅ I set some specific goals, but also room to evolve as I do.
✅ I stay excited about the future, while enjoying and appreciating the present along the way.
✅ I keep it realistic and pragmatic, but always combine it with bold dreams that keep me inspired (yes, i still want to produce my own wine in the backyard of my imaginary beach house in Spain).
Looking back, I am very proud today to see that I’ve accomplished many of the impossible dreams I had the first time I did this exercise for myself.
And if you have ever lost the ability to dream, I understand, I also once did, and it’s scary. A vision helps you recover it. It gives you direction and excitement, and the reminder that your future is still being written.
Remember, the best way to predict the future is to create it.
